If you have not visited Sayalonga's round cemetery you should as it is an architectural treasure and attracts a great number of visitors.

The cemetery is a monument which is compact in size, however, that is not to say that a short look or visit is enough. If you look closer it is possible to see how the construction of the niches gives them the look of a white honeycomb, and in each one a new surprise. So, it is not just a cemetery it is also an example of popular architecture of the time.

Constructed in the 19th century, its round form remained a closely kept secret for some time, perhaps because at first sight, of its resemblance to the tower of a church, or maybe for other reasons. One thing that is certain is that it is an anonymous piece of work, which has influenced the environment into which it blends and whose surroundings imitate the spontaneity of its form.

This is possibly the only round cemetery in Spain. Its probably one of the most visited architectural monuments in the Axarquía with more than 3.000 people visiting a year.
