Having a facial with Rebeccah Curtis

I don't really believe in fate, but last Tuesday it was certainly displayed in my life. Rebeccah Curtis had invited me to her Well Being Centre located in Torrox Costa which can be found to the back of the Laguna Beach complex. Rebeccah was keen for me to experience her treatments first hand and to write about the experience myself. This we believed would give readers an honest and accurate perspective without being blinded by

So, last Tuesday I went for my appointment, however, I was suffering from pain and stiffness in my neck and shoulders which wouldn't go away. I had put it down to over zealous basketball playing earlier in the week. I did wonder whether to change my facial to a massage but as I had never had a facial before and it sounded like true pampering I kept the same appointment.

Arriving at the Centre you straight away feel like you are in a small health spa, everything is immaculately clean and tidy with displays of health and beauty products and numerous certificates on the walls displaying the qualifications of the Therapists and not forgetting the calming tinkly music playing in the background. Rebeccah Curtis greeted me in her uniform and asked me to wait a few minutes while she prepared everything. Initial thoughts were how professional the Centre was. It felt a real treat for me to be there for an appointment.

Rebeccah led me into her treatment room and asked me to take a seat while she asked me a few questions, nothing personal, just contact details, usual skin care routine (not sure what she thought of baby wipes for removal of make –up!), was I on any medication etc. Then she asked me to remove my top and lie down. I get cold easily but the room was a good temperature, so removing a layer of clothing wasn't an issue. Rebeccah explained she was going to do a Chakra Balancing Facial. This started with my face being fully cleansed and toned. Then a peel was applied to my face which I can only describe as a thick gel substance which Rebeccah applied thickly and repeatedly to my face. This was left for about 20 minutes which was to remove and break down the dead skin cells on my face. While waiting for the peel to work Rebeccah and I got talking. She is an incredibly interesting and vibrant woman and her views on her treatments and therapies were enlightening and made a lot of sense.

Rebeccah then removed the peel and the next stage of the facial was to gently move a pure glass object over the face and neck paying special attention to three shakra points, one on the forehead, the second on the neck area and third on the upper chest. She asked me to visualize a specific colour whilst the glass was resting on each of the Shakra points. I didn't go into details with her about Shakra points or the symbolism of the colours, however, the general point of the movement was to rebalance, clear blockages and tone the muscles of the face. To be honest once it started I didn't really care what it was for, as it felt great, and I was relaxed to the point of drifting off. I couldn't tell you how long this part of the treatment lasted but it was fantastic. Finally, Rebeccah finished by gently massaging the neck and shoulders. It was at this point I knew she had found the problem in my neck. After she had finished, Rebeccah talked to me about my neck and suggested this wasn't going away on its own and said I should see a Chiropractor. The Centre had a lady chiropractor that comes one day a week and today was the day!

This was definitely fate so I asked Rebeccah to make me an appointment for later. I won't go into the Chiropractor's treatment right now however it is a day later when I am writing this and I am feeling much less discomfort in my neck and shoulders. With regards to my face a few close friends said I looked more glowing than usual but more importantly the treatment made me feel happy inside and my face felt great. Although the facial was a treat for me it wouldn't have to be, as all the Centre's Therapies and treatments are all reasonably priced so giv
