DAY FOR LIFE 2015

Are you up for a Competa Challenge for Cudeca? If so we have a choice of three challenges as part of our “Day for Life” to raise much needed funds for Cudeca Cancer Care.

To celebrate our 5th annual “Day for Life” there are two new exciting challenges, the first, a Zumba Marathon, takes place on Saturday, 11th April in Competa Sports Hall with Nicola McEvoy who promises you two hours of fun Zumba from 11am – 1pm. The entry charge of only 5euros per adult and 3euros per child is all donated to Cudeca. The second new challenge is to see who can hold the body plank for the longest amount of time whilst gaining sponsorship for every ten seconds. You can obtain a sponsor form; see details at the end of article. This will take place on Day for Life at The Alberdini at 12.30 and there will be a prize for the winner, sponsored by Inez from The Alberdini.

The third challenge is our Walk for Life, a 5km sponsored walk around the village of Competa, now in its 10th annual year. To celebrate a decade of Walk for Life, we’d like the children (and anyone else who wants too!) to dress up as Sunflowers and adults to walk in the colours of Cudeca, green and/or yellow. There will be three separate prizes for the best dressed female, male and youngster. Fancy a refreshment en-route? Then please call into Vendimia Bar/Restaurant, as Jose has generously agreed to donate a percentage of his takings from our walkers to Cudeca. The more you spend, the more Cudeca makes!! As always it is free to join our walk, all I please ask is that you obtain as much sponsor money as possible or make a donation. Please contact me, Cindy Jones for a sponsor form.

The “Day for Life” fun begins from 12noon onwards at The Alberdini, Competa with lots of entertainment for both adults and children. There will be an opportunity to try Hoopla, Tin Can Alley, Pin the Poo and Cover the Bottle and win prizes generously sponsored by Competa local businesses. Once again, you can enter the annual Darts Tournament, kindly sponsored by Pavo Real and organised by Paul Burgin.

At lunchtime, the Alberdini will prepare and cook a “Paellagigante” for only 5euros a portion, of which 2euros is donated to Cudeca. There will be numerous stalls for you to meander around, the ever popular home-made cake stall, handmade jewellery, home-made soaps, bargains at the Bric-a-Brac, wooden carvings, local produce and an amazing Raffle stall. If you are able to support our Cudeca stalls by donating any of the following, please contact the applicable person and they will arrange to meet you at a convenient Competa location closer to the event;-
Bric A Brac – Elaine or Sandra sandandar@yahoo.co.uk lainy18@hotmail.com
Cakes – Debi debi.bond@gmail.com or whatsapp 626192117
(Sweet & Savouries).
Surplus Garden Produce – Jo jotom20042003@yahoo.com
Raffle Prizes – Liz stewart.lizbland@hotmail.co.uk

So come along and join our celebrations and although I cannot guarantee the weather, you may recall last year the walkers got absolutely drenched in a torrential downpour. I can however promise you a fun day as described above together with live music from Andy Time and Aire Flamenco, whilst at the same time helping Cudeca. It is a charitable organisation that provides palliative care to the terminally ill cancer sufferers within the province of Malaga. Cudeca receives very little public funding instead they entirely depend on initiatives for raising money to ensure they can continue to provide the ‘special kind of caring’ to those who need specialist palliative care.

Thank you
