ACTION FOR ANIMALS JULY

The sun is out! So come along to our charity shop and grab yourself a summer bargain. We’ve got fabulous frocks, terrific tops and sensational skirts. Why pay a fortune for a Zara dress when you can snap one up in our shop for less than a fiver?

We’ve also got a well-stocked, very organised library (thank you, Megan Furniss) where you can peruse the shelves in comfort and find the perfect book to while away those lazy afternoons on your terrace or on the beach. Whether it’s a book or a new outfit, our super team of volunteers are always on hand to help you find exactly what you’re looking for, so pop in and see what we’ve got in store for you.

Our commission sales project continues to be a great success, so if you have any individual items you wish to sell (must be valued at over 50€ per item) we’ll sell them for you and you’ll be helping the animals at the same time. We ask for just 25% of the sale price. It’s a win-win situation!

Last month we were proud to have donated supplies of worming medication to the Barbary Macaque Awareness & Conservation project, a Moroccan Association which recently set up a Dog Health Programme, to improve the welfare of dogs around Barbary macaque habitat. You can read more about their work at http://www.barbarymacaque.org

We had some happy endings in June, when Poncho, Mini and Bear all found fantastic new homes! Pablito, pictured here, is still being fostered. He’s a wonderful dog who gets on well with other dogs and would make a fabulous pet. If you can offer the lovely Pablito a new home please contact Nina on 660586040.

As well as our regular animal food expenses, our vets bills for the month came in at just under €2000 after providing nine neutering operations, countless vaccinations, microchips and passports, flea treatments, blood tests and sadly, two cases for euthanasia. We were also able to pay for ongoing medication for “Jessie”, newly diagnosed with epilepsy, an operation for “Aizu” who had a nasty growth on his neck and two operations for “Rumba” whose eye was badly damaged and in urgent need of repair.

None of this would have been possible without all the wonderful people who shop with us and donate goods to us, to help the animals. Your support is hugely appreciated and vital for us to continue our work. On behalf of all the animals, we thank you!
