A new restaurant has opened up in Sayalonga. This white washed pretty village can be found 10 minutes from the coast just take the Algarrobo exit from the motorway up towards Competa. The restaurant is at the bottom of the village, you need to take the turning down to the outdoor swimming pool and you can find it on the left opposite the school. Astrid and Henning are the new owners of restaurant Que Tal and want to provide a creative and fusion Kitchen. They are not strangers to the hospitality and catering business as they originally owned a bar in Chilches. Then they moved to Gran Canaria where they owned a restaurant for 8 years. However, they felt this was long enough to live on an island and friends from Competa encouraged them to move back to the Penisula. Henning is Michelin star chef in Switzerland and has a huge amount of chef experience. He has worked all over Europe including The Dorchester, London and Savini, Milan. On their return to Spain they initially rented a place in Competa and Henning worked over the summer both in the kitchen at Casa Paco and in El Cortijo Restaurante. Astrid and Henning were keen once again to open up their own eatery. However as there were already over 30 restaurants and bars in Competa they thought Sayalonga would provide the ideal prospect. Finding the right location wasn’t easy, the premises they eventually found was in a good condition, originally a pizza restaurant and prior to that an outlet for selling honey that the owner of the building made! All they needed to do was add their own touch, fixtures and fittings and they were good to open. Que Tal is a modern looking restaurant with a little patio outside for those warmer evenings. It’s fantastic for that intimate dinner and feels exclusive with its limited number of tables of evening. The menu boards on the wall show off Henning’s Creative style of Cooking. Examples from the menu Beetroot Carpaccio, Ricola, Parmesan Cream Warm Goat Cheese on a mango spinach bed and wild berry Fresh Duck liver roasted Prime Cut fillet of beef Presa iberico Scallops grilled in vanillaonline And much more…… Sweets for your sweet: Marzipan ICE cream Chocolate,Chocolate and more Tarte Tatin de Desmoiselles Tatin Indulgence of Chocolate Que Tal is open every day from 7.30pm except Wednesdays. Reservation is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Access and parking is easy outside the Restaurant and Henning can speak English, German, French and Spanish so booking a table is easy too!
