Well, it’s been a very busy morning, lots of people coming into the Galeria, phone has not stopped ringing and we have just heard our radio commercial will be broadcast on coastline radio from November.1st (Delighted!!). On top of all that we are having a wine tasting evening tonight, the theme being "wines of the world" being hosted by our friend and renowned wine expert Steve Ochman. It is going to be a great evening, we have music being performed by Vick Faulkner from 70´s band Hello, and yes we are looking forward to it! It is our intention to have regular "Themed" evenings as well as "Workshops" to be hosted by artists, ceramic artists and sculptors whose works we exhibit.
We are now into our 6th week of business and there has not been a dull moment, more importantly the response that we have had, has been sensational! Business has been exceptional and we are selling across the board so to speak, Jewelry, paintings, ceramics, sculptures and many pieces for terraces and gardens. As I write this editorial, I am aware of the inevitable deadline that there always seems to be and because of what I have mentioned above, my deadline is about an hour away! However, I want to not just speak about where we are now, but how we got here. In particular, why a Galeria?
My wife Jan and I stumbled across Torrox Pueblo about 4 years ago and were lucky enough to buy a casa, which we have holidayed in regularly each year. It became a labour of love, sourcing for and decorating the casa. In fact, so much so, that it became harder and harder, to leave it and needless to say, head back to the, lets be kind, hustle and hassle of day to day life in the UK… Now where have you heard that before? So, the big decision was made…Let’s start a new life in the sun, but one problem, what do we do to earn a living? It would hardly be a new life, if I were to continue with my business, which was commercial finance or for my wife to continue with hers, which was running a performing arts business. In both cases, the hours and pressure were, taking its toll!
Whilst taking our time over the refurbishment and decoration of our casa, we seemed to invite a great deal of interest and acknowledgement of what we were achieving. People would visit us and ask if they could return and take photographs or video, words like "wow" was regularly used on entering. At first, both my wife and I found this embarrassing but as time went on many, if not all, these people became friends!
Maybe, we considered, we have an eye for what people like? We have got to do something! A Galeria of as many exclusive and unique pieces of art, sculpture, jewellry etc. and what a fantastic environment for us to work in! Clemente Galeria de Torrox was thus conceived!
So much has happened since, not least the BBC picking up on our story and as a result, filming our exploits for their programme "Living in the sun" to be broadcast either later this year or early next. We are looking forward to it, especially our opening night when we were joined by friends and family!
Anyway, I am aware of this deadline so all that remains to be said is that I hope we have the opportunity of welcoming YOU to our Galeria, so you can see for yourself different works, from so many talented people. If you get half the joy and feeling of wellbeing that my wife and I enjoy, by creating a beautiful home environment, then Clemente Galeria was a great decision! Thank you for taking the time to read this!!
