Chris & Christina host's of Café Bar Plata (The Silver Bar) welcome you to The Silver Sea Beach in Algarrobo Costa
If you want to eat or drink on the beach front surrounded by palm trees and looking out to sea, Bar Plata fits the bill.
Bar Plata has a beautiful location, friendly owners along with fantastic food of a high standard and well presented. I can’t think of a reason why you shouldn’t go there! They serve everything from full English breakfasts to baguettes and homemade afternoon teas including scones, carrot cake, cheese-cakes and gateau’s. Also for the bigger appetite they have a selection of main meals including Steak and various fish dishes.
Bar Plata is also an outlet for selling Elaine’s cakes and pies from the Tuesday farmers market in Puente Don Manuel. This means you don’t have to wait until a Tuesday to taste Elaine’s cooking!
Chris and Christine who took over the Algarrobo Costa based bar in November last year have both been in the Catering business for over 10 years. They have made the bar extremely successful as it caters for everyone from vegetarians with their veggie burgers, quiches, bean feasts to kids with their own menu and even to those with special dietary requirements. So with all this choice I asked Chris what was his best seller? Chris answered “probably our 8oz homemade burgers, our customers say they are the best on the coast”.
Chris and Christine moved to Spain in November last year from Holmfirth in England. They have been together for 3 years and married for 6 months but how they met is a true love story! They were first together for 2 years when Chris was 16 and Christine 13. They then spilt up went their separate ways and married other people. When Chris’s marriage broke up he looked Christine up on the friends reunited website and learnt her marriage had broke up too. They then arranged to meet up after 25 years and the rest is history- aah! Finally, I asked Chris if they were televising the World Cup? Chris proudly answered “we are installing a 42” plasma in screen in our window so people can watch all the matches from outside and we have some special deals on food and drinks during the games.”
