There is a slight change to the Loymerbus service from Canillas to Malaga.
It came into force on 27.10.18.
They changed it a couple of days before the notice went up on the bus and caused quite a stir, as the bus went straight up the Torre del Mar main road and took the 4th turning right, ending up at the Loymerbus Office pointing East. (Before it pointed West).
Now the hospital route is on the Malaga route, going from the Loymerbus stop straight to the hospital bus stops, then continuing onto the road next to the hospital and then Malaga.
This new service is now going to run on Saturdays, Sundays and Festivals as well, but leaves at 9.00 on those days. An improvement I think, especially if you are needing emergency treatment at weekends and Fiestas!
These are the times of the buses weekday that incorporate the hospital route, 7.00 9.30. 3.30.
The remaining buses at 1.30 and 5.30 still just go straight to Torre del Mar. (You have to walk to the hospital from there).
Those going to El Ingenio or Velez Malaga, get off the bus and cross to the small bus, which now points to the West! This makes it quicker to reach El Ingenio, I tested the route and was shopping by 10.50 after getting the 9.30 bus.
I also tested the hospital route, and that takes the same amount of time as before, but I would imagine it makes a few minutes difference to reaching the Motorway and Malaga.
(Please note the Summer schedule bus at 15.45, is now not running).

Travel tips for using the Alsa buses to go to see the Malaga Christmas Lights.
I am often asked about this and I would advise that it is best to park in Torre. Go to the Ticket Office at the bus station and purchase your ticket asking for a Direct bus to Malaga. If you have a green travel card, you have to get a single ticket and I would strongly advise getting your return ticket (vuelta) when you reach the Malaga Port stop or the Main Bus Station and tell them the approximate time you want to have it for.The reason I am advising this is that these buses get very full and are not that frequent, (although I believe Alsa put extra ones on for the Christmas period). If you don’t get a ticket when you reach Malaga and leave it until later, the passengers with a time stipulated ticket get on the bus first and others afterwards. There is a good chance you wont be able to get on the bus and have to wait for maybe up to an hour for the next one on a cold December night! Believe me I have seen this happen.
Its not a good idea to park in Lidl car park in Algarrobo Costa and get a bus from there, because often, the very few and far between buses are not Direct, therefore take a very long time to reach Malaga as they go via Rincon and all along the coast.
Personally, I used to go about 5 from Torre, the lights go on at 6.30, so you need a good spot to see and listen to the music. The best timed buses home are around 9 or 10 otherwise its very late before you reach Competa or Canillas.
Information on the Alsa buses are on Google, either Alsa webpage or Busbud, which seems easier to read.!
